The Technion-Cornell Innovation Institute (TCII) in New York
City was the subject of a public radio broadcast May 9-10 that focused on the
Technion side of the equation, asking: “We know Cornell, but what is the
Technion?” WNYC, New York’s award-winning flagship public radio station,
reports on Mayor Bloomberg’s goal to outpace Silicon Valley with new start-ups,
and the Technion’s role in helping make this possible.

After screening close to 40
top architectural firms, Pritzker Prize winner Thom
Mayne and his architectural firm, Morphosis, has been chosen to build the campus’s first academic
building on Roosevelt Island. Mayne hopes to set architectural precedent by
creating an academic building that would combine traditional, quiet study
areas with open spaces to foster collaboration and innovation in today's connected world. He will work with the engineering firm Arup to design an ecologically sustainable building that uses geothermal and solar power to bring the net-energy consumption to zero. Mayne expects to complete construction by Fall 2017.
Technion Alum's ReWalk Makes Marathon History
The ReWalk device helps paraplegics to walk again.
Who would dare dream that a woman paralyzed by a horseback
riding accident would ever again stand, walk and even run? Technion graduate
Amit Goffer’s innovative “robotic suit,” called the ReWalk TM, has
allowed Claire Lomas to run the London Marathon, her husband, Dan, and three-month
old daughter by her side.
