Technion and The Big Apple: Innovation At Its Core

Apple

Excitement is building as the Joan & Irwin Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute prepares to move to its new home on the nearly completed Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island in New York City this September!

In preparation for this fall, Technion President Professor Peretz Lavie was in New York City in January to share his vision for the innovative educational experiment. He and Ron Brachman, the new Director of the Jacobs Institute, were welcomed at a special event headlined by Ambassador Dani Dayan, Consul General for Israel in New York. Additionally, President Lavie and Dan Huttenlocher, Founding Dean and Vice Provost of Cornell Tech, joined leaders from New York City’s top universities to speak at a Power Breakfast panel hosted by the Association for a Better New York.

The Jacobs Institute just graduated its inaugural class of Health Tech students and second class of Connective Media students in May 2017. Last year’s inaugural class of Connective Media students marked the first time an international university had ever granted an accredited degree on US. soil. Many of the graduating students from both classes have already launched their own tech startups.  Click on the video below to learn more about the 2017 graduating class. Read our full press release. Check out our Facebook photo album from our graduation celebration. See the coverage in Crain’s New York.
