The Joan & Irwin Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute celebrated the official opening of its permanent home on the Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island on September 13, 2017. The dedication event was attended by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, former mayor Michael Bloomberg, Technion President Peretz Lavie, Cornell University President Martha Pollack and Cornell Tech Dean Daniel Huttenlocher.

Cornell Tech is the first campus ever built for the digital age. The next-generation curriculum at The Jacobs Institute brings together academia and industry to create pioneering leaders, transformational new research, products, companies and social ventures. “We’re very excited to be the talent pool developer for a new generation of the economy in New York City,” says Ron Brachman, Director of The Jacobs Institute.

The Jacobs Institute graduated its inaugural class of Health Tech students and second class of Connective Media students in May 2017. Last year’s inaugural class of Connective Media students marked the first time an international university had ever granted an accredited degree on US. soil. Many of the graduating students from both classes have already launched their own tech startups.  Click on the video below to learn more about the 2017 graduating class. Read our full press release.
